I went to a vacuum cleaner museum once. It's always interesting to
me to see the evolution of our modern products. These were all made of wood and
quite heavy. I don't know how well they worked, but I know that modern carpet
sweeper gadgets with no power don't work worth a darn, so I can't
imagine they were very good. But I guess it was better than taking the rug outside and beating
it with a stick!
